I've been a gardener all of my life, but have only taken an interest in CPs. I have a concrete laundry sink from a recent remodeling job and since it was gonna cost $100 to have it hauled away, I parked it in a corner of the yard by the fence ( facing south and west ) and filled it with peat. As is my usual habit, I ordered some plants and then started to read about them. Duh. This container is way too big for me to be able to water it with DI water and I'm not sure that I get enough rain. I'm thinking that I'll have put the plants I've ordered ( 2 pitchers, 2 flytraps and 3 sundews ) in pots and find another use for this concrete sink. My big question though is about over wintering. I live in Chicago so they'll have to come inside and I wonder if they will go dormant. I could put them in the refrigerator for a few months. The coldest room in my basement only goes down to about 60F in the winter and is pretty dark. My garage would be too cold. What should I do? Sunfighter

Hi sunfighter and welcome. Dormancy in CPs is induced by light cues and not temperature so I think they would be fine in your basement. And the plants don't need much light in the winter, although you should watch out for mold and fungus.

Should I maybe let them dry out a bit?

Keep them at least damp. Don't dry them out completely or you will lose them.
