Those of you interested in what BE is producing will already know about this, as you will be already subscribed to our mailing list for website updates from the homepage of the BE website. But I think it worthwhile mentioning this on the forums, for the reason that this new resource contains the first ever shown photos of some of the hybrids created by BE.
For very many years we have had an Availability List linked from the 'Retail' tab of our homepage This list is updated in near real-time from our database to show what we have available for our distributors to order on any particular day and to give a rough indication whether you can expect the plant to be priced as inexpensive, mid-range or costly. The problem is that the list wasn't illustrated, so you as the grower were confronted with lists of Latin names and had to guess at what the plant might look like. But no longer! Currently we have 82 items on offer and 70 of these items have either one or often two photos associated with them, so it’s 85% complete and we are working on filling in the gaps. Best of all is that the photos are linked to higher resolution versions with a height of 650 pixels to give you a better idea of what the plants look like. These photos are currently in JPG format with white background for ease of printing but if there is sufficient interest, we can make them available as PNG files for those who might want to use them on websites etc. They are not copyrighted, so please do feel free to use any as you wish, although BE would appreciate an acknowledgement if any are used.
As newly created hybrids grow larger, we will continuously replace the photos with ones of more mature plants and keep you informed if you are registered for website updates at www.borneoexotics.com. Also as we introduce new items, photos will be added.
We have wanted this for very many years, as it means that you as a grower are no longer confronted with only confusing scientific names of new hybrids, with no photos available. Even if you are not a grower of BE produced plants, you may find it interesting, as it contains many photos never shown before of hybrids created by Borneo Exotics.
Photos on page 2 showing the minimum and maximum sizes of species and hybrids which we offer through our Distributors are also dramatically improved and are to scale.
And although these are not all guaranteed to appear on the Availability List all at the same time, to finish off with, "these are a few of my favorite things" dum-dum, dum-dum:
