So I basically started off with a typical fly trap from Safeway...(my sons plant he picked out) and when I decided to look into it to figure out more, like many of you I'm sure, I was amazed at just how many different carnivorous plants there were. I quickly bought what was labelled as sarracenia Daina's delight but I'm told may not be. Followed by a small Nepenthes Sanguinea and the two drosera you see. Capensis and Dielsiana. Then went to a local guy who has one of , if not THE biggest selection of sarracenia in Canada and picked up the Purpurea heterophylla and Swanianna. Within 5 minutes of putting the Swanianna on the back deck I watched a hornet become consumed by the plants nectar and it fell into one of the smallest pitchers and drowned. Amazing. Lastly , I've decided that my last purchase of the year tomorrow I'm going to pick up a Nepenthes Izumiae and a Nepenthes Maxima as well. I figure that is a good enough start to test my hand at caring for the different species through our B.C. weather and if I manage to maintain these plants to some new growth next spring, I'm going to take a serious look at constructing a small but proper little greenhouse to get some more. Any feedback is greatly appreciated . Thanks for lookin -Keeper Attachments:
