Hello. I am new to CPs but have tried to prepare well. I read savage garden before starting anything. about a month ago, i purchased a windowsill collection from a well known place in CA. Already potted, small size. Bought butterwort mesophytica, low giant flytrap dionaea muscipula, drosera capensis, ultricara lividia.
I am using tray method, distilled water. left in original pots, giving as much sunlight as possible. flytrap and bladderwort growing well. sundew has sickly color, no dew, and the tips sometimes turn black. the butterwort leaves are rotting. turning greyish, curling up and withering. the sundew also has a long flower stalk.
keeping bladderwort soaked, sundew less than that, butterwort less than that, flytrap about same as butterwort. misting twice a day for all. ordered grow light, not here yet. anything i can do for the two not doing so well?
Please excuse typos, using tablet.
Thanks.

When watering the sundew and butterwort, make sure you are not getting water on the leaves. Butterworts in particular don't really like that. Also, where are you growing them? Without adequate light, sundews will not produce mucilage.

Stop misting. How do you have less water going to some plants if you're using the tray method?

I've stopped misting. I use separate trays for the different water needs. I've got pictures.

The new growth on the Drosera and Pinguicula look ok to me. They probably needed the time to adjust to your conditions any disturbance from shipping. Most likely you are seeing the normal die off of old leaves with a pause before new growth resumes. Misting usually is only necessary if you have constant very humidity (say < 30%) or some tropical species. Usually you can compensate by keeping constant water levels.
