I got some seed off bestcarnplants last year and broch hectinoides was among the seed, I had great germination rates(23/27 seed), they are neglected in the back corner of the greenhouse (once they are older I will move them, but seedlings typically get left until they are a few inches).
I have found that they are easy provided the soil is moist and not soaking (or they rot, lost 2 in a test of conditions), and that in low sun they look like crap (as seen in this pic) but in high sun (full sun through 50% shade cloth 8-4) they look great.
They are fast growing at first(1cm tall after just a few months) but now that we have hit winter they have slowed a bit.
I would call my conditions lowland-intermediate and have a few lowland neps (bical, amp's, raff's, camps and benstonei) growing around them happily.
I doubt my soil is of much care to them at this age, more just the moisture of it, but I am using 2spag/3sand in the main pot and have a couple (like the pic) on pure moss, which as you can see had the failures.
