I need help finding a place to buy my seeds and plants. I live in Tn so if there is someone doing business closer than california than please let me know. Someone who doesn't steal, and delivers a decent product is a must. I have been going through the different forums and I have not found one knew enough to satisfy my question. With how quickly business change a few months can make a big difference sometimes. In particular I am looking to buy a Hybrid Nepenthes that will adapt to the climate here in time. I have researched and researched for months but am still having a hard time understanding which one would suit me best. I do suffer from Fibromyalgia so It makes retaining information impossible most of the time so I have to write everything down and its time consuming going through my notes due to the shear volume of them. I am also wanting to purchase seeds(nepenthes as well). Could I start them now under lights in August or should I wait until spring? If so how do I keep the seeds fresh? I promise I will not be one of those guys thats asks a million questions that have been asked and answered a million times. This is the last one I will ask for awhile I promise. Its also the most important one thats why I am asking. This is the zone I am in here in Tn

As for good sellers look here: www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq6280.htmlThe nurseries mentioned here have at the very least stated that they agree with the conservation statement also on this page. It's a bit older page but most nurseries are still in business.

If you're looking for someone who is within driving distance you'll probably be out of luck. Most of us have to order plants and seeds online and have them shipped, and as for Nepenthes seeds, they're tropicals, so they don't have a set period of when they should be planted. As they also go bad within a couple of months whether or not you try to keep them fresh, you won't find them anywhere very often.

Jeremy, If you would like to start out with ANY kind of Nepenthes seeds to gain experience, I would gladly donate some very fresh hybrid seeds for you to start with.
As for plants, we all pretty much rely on a handful of nurseries that have an online presence and ship by mail. Man growers start with exoticplantsplus.com first.

Thanks for all the advice, I have made a few orders online already. One through Ebay, and one Through Bugbitingplants.com. They were both all right. The Sundew I got from Bugbitingplants.com was tiny. Maybe it said it was tiny when I ordered but I don't recall. I remember it saying it was mature. So for the money i paid and what I received and how I received it did not impress me. but the man I talked to through email was real helpful answering various questions I had so I don't want to say bad things about them. He did send me a free 1 yr old red dragon Fly trap with the order. I was just hoping to find a place that wasn't as far from Tennessee as California is to order from. Thats a long trip for a plant and the postal service isn't what it used to be.

I'm a latecomer to this thread. But I have been disappointed as a result of not researching the dealer I was buying from. I find that Dave's Garden is an excellent place to get information on dealers. davesgarden.com/products/gwd/

Bugbitingplants has excellent selection, but iffy plant conditions. I would not order full grown plants from them, their shipping takes too long.

I'd suggest CP Jungle if you are looking for neps. They have really high quality plants and they are located closer to you than California Carnivores. In fact, that are in TN too! They specialize in Nepenthes and usually have a fairly large selection available...

They haven't had anything available for a while, though. Supposedly they're working on getting back in business, but no updates have been posted on the site for months. They did have good plants when they were still up and running constantly, though.

I would focus more on the quality of the vendor and less on the distance (within USA). You cannot go wrong with Paul's recommendation.
