Hi All, Just thought I'd share a quickie; here are a couple of seedling Heliamphora nutans that are the result of me fertilizing the plants flowers (remember, they're not self compatable, but I have gotten viable seed obviously, but you must cross the flowers on the plant- pollen matures at a different time than the stigma is receptive). I will pollinate this flowering, and try to be more responsible at collecting it before the capsules release the seed- this seed is from a Philadelphia Flower Show trophy winner too!!! Ohhh...! Anyway,
this is a pic showing a three year old seedling on the left, circled in black, and a 1 year old circled in pink/magenta. So essentially I completed the 'where's waldo' for you, as I really don't think it would be too easy to find them- even with my circles I have trouble!
Here is a pic of just the 1 year old, very cute- if it does what it's supposed to, it will look like this for the next ten years(just a joke, but doesn't everyone get tired of their seedling heli's getting bigger and bigger, but just producing bigger juvie leaves; it's like having a seedling Sarr. for about 6 years just keep those boring baby leaves- definitely tests my patience...)
Anyways, enjoy- I think I may try to get as much seed as I can, and then send it to allen lowrie- I get his catalogs, and have never seen Heli seed offered, so I'll try to get it amongst more patient people (than me). Enjoy, Nick
