Hello, i live in northwest Florida and was wondering if there were any nearby CP societies. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It looks like there are no official carnivorous plant societies in Florida at all from what I can find. It's really unfortunate as there are so many native plants that it's surprising there wouldn't be more interest in them around here.
It seems as if there is a loose organization of people, and a Florida CP Society website forum, but no one's actively posting there. I had registered weeks ago to ask a question of local growers and my account hasn't even been activated yet. I lived closer to a society when I lived in NY, now that I moved to FL and I actually have time to go to a meeting, there's none to go to.... funny how that worked out!

Taargus, as far is a can see your account is activated on the Florida forum. It is a small somewhat silent forum as many people dropped of when the Florida society website was destroyed in a deliberate cyberattack. Brian, the president of the Florida society and the webmaster of the Florida forum, has had a very busy time so the rebuilding of the society page is not going to be soon unless there are some volunteers to help him. When he sees this he'll probably have more details

Thanks for the input Marcel. My account is still pending approval even though I'm listed as the newest member. Not a big deal though, I just figured it was because it wasn't very active that people don't check in much. I don't know much HTML but I'd be glad to volunteer to help in other ways if it's a work in progress to get things back together.

Hi Melody,
I can only see your account as activated, but I just have moderator rights so I guess Brian will have to help you further. I've send him an e-mail.

Hey Folks, All pending accounts are now approved! Sorry for the slow response, as I've been ill lately. But all is well now. Indeed, the cyberattack on the site was quite discouraging, as I did put alot of time into it. I am however, going to rebuild the website and reform the FCPS as I'm now having a little more spare time to do so.... Until then, please enjoy the ICPS and the FCPS Forums! You'll find a wealth of CP info I'm sure. And to the newcomers...you'll find some decent videos of Fl. CPs via the link in my signature too... Happy Growing, Brian P.S. Fred, you've been granted complimentary local Floridian status... ;D

Indeed... I'm sending you a semi-sweet blackberry tart. With frosting, of course. ;D

I guess i will have to check out the FCPS. Thanks for the info. and Taargus i am also surprised that there is not a lot of of Cp society's here since it has one of the richest diversity's of them in this country. i suppose maybe i should try to organize one. Thanks again.
