Has anyone else seen clumps of Venus Fly Traps growing on what look like their flower stalks? I will edit this post with a picture latter. Should I run to this person and beg for a cutting?

Hey Brian, welcome to the forum. That's called false vivipary. Here's a good link that explains this in detail: www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq2500.htmlFeel free to browse around that site, it's maintained by one of our members and is a great site for all around CP info. Also don't be afraid to ask any other questions you have! -Mike

Should I run to this person and beg for a cutting? Nope. It's called "false vivipary" and many plants will do this although the precise reasons why it happens are not known. Amongst orchid growers the the plantlets are called "keikis" and "keike paste" (a plant hormone compound) may be purchased to apply to flower stalks to induce the production of plantlets. There are photos of the phenomenon linked on the Dionaea page of Bob's Photofinder.

If you're talking about Andy.. I don't think in his case they are false vivipary. The traps actually work.

Thank you for the explanation and the links to the other sites. The pictures were very detailed. Here is a picture of the one I saw. There are two that can be found in a large pot in the southwest corner of the Water Plant Room at the Flower Conservancy at Golden Gate Park. Thanks again

With flytraps, the most common way of getting plantlets to develop on the flower stalk is to grow the plant with very warm days, and very chilly nights, right before and during the flower stack production.
