The North American Sarracenia Conservancy (NASC) is going to be holding its ninth annual benefit auction online at Terra Forums beginning tomorrow, Saturday April 21 at Noon Eastern Daylight Time. Bidding will continue for two weeks and new items will be added all the time. You will find the item listings going up here:

For the uninitiated, each year NASC uses this event to raise funds to not only fund its ongoing conservation efforts such as our very own field work, scouting, and rescue efforts, but we also choose a primary beneficiary to specifically raise funds for. Last year we met our goal of raising $2000 to go toward decreasing preserved land fragmentation around the community of Boiling Springs Lake, North Carolina. We're looking to redouble our efforts and help The Nature Conservancy and state agencies acquire more land to fill in gaps to prevent further loss of Sarracenia habitat due to development. We're also setting our sites on raising funds for Dulany Bog in western North Carolina, which requires a bit of management to help maintain healthy Sarracenia purpurea subsp. purpurea populations. A pilot project is being devised that will serve as a template for a long-term management plan in partnership with the Highlands Biological Research Station, landowners of the parcel.
All you need to do to participate is either find an item (plant, artwork, book, mystery item, bad holiday sweater?) to donate or bid on an item, simple as that! For an example of some of the things that will be up for auction this year, a couple of people began posting "teasers" of what they might donate to the auction this year:
