One shouldn't count their chickens before they hatch but hopefully the flowers won't abort. D. hamiltonii

Tentacles. That is a strange color. Is it natural?

The photos are close to the actual color. This species can get a chocolate/blackcherry red coloration depending on the lighting.

Lovely photos, I had a period of many (over 20!) years without this species flowering, but recently they have been flowering annually. For me, the secret was a really big, deep pot...

Lovely shots, NaN! Hope I can get a chance to give mine a natural photoperiod in the near future--- I'd love to see those gorgeous flowers in real life Interesting that your stalks are so hairy in comparison to Barry's in his old article: www.carnivorousplants.org/cpn/samples/Cult272Dham.htmAlso, has anyone disproved the claim that they don't produce seed? How about cross-pollination?

This is around year six for these plants. I did repot them last year but not into anything particularly deep. I also moved them this winter to an area where they get much more direct sunlight. A deeper pot might be a variable as this species seems to grow offshoots when the roots get horizontal. Instead of the plant's energy going to new plants it might go into producing flowers in deeper pots. This last winter may have been colder than those of 2008 and 2009 but not when compared to the other years.
Aaron, from the photo finder it would appear that only the basal portion of the flower stalk is hairy. I tried to see if C.R.P. Andrews' original type description doesn't appear to be online. Neither is Rica Erickson's "Plants of Prey in Australia".
Now if my Drosera slackii would flower I'd be happy.

I hope another plant or two will follow suit. I did repot them last year so the media change of newer peat moss may have facilitated the darker colored tentacles. I have some cuttings to repot, perhaps I'll try a deep pot and see if that makes a difference.
