I am quite sorry, but I will not be willing to spend $440 for a 30 minute drive in my own car to visit you at a bog. You may have misunderstood, I meant that I will drive to the bog with my own transportation and meet the ICPS field trip group there. As I said I will also make a donation to the ICPS to cover any expenses.
Thank you, nepenthes99

Are you registered for the Conference with the lectures ($125) or just going to the public show ($5)?
If you are a registered for the conference, you can also go on the Field Trips, but not if you are just attending the $5 public show. That's just for the plant show, vendors and some public talks.
The conference registration covers the main lectures, field trips, private hours at the plant show and much more.
The $440 Field Trip fee is for transportation for the New England Bog Tour which is the first day, the transportation to the airport and 4 days rental vehicle and four nights hotel in North Carolina with some other associated costs.
Doesn't include airfare
Which is actually all quite a good deal!
If you are registered for the conference and do not need those provisions, something can be worked out on a per-case basis. However, if you are not registered, then you are not eligible for the field trips.

While I would love to attend both the conference and the full field trip, I started a new job a few months ago and am not eligible for any vacation time yet. However, I'm hoping I might be able to rearrange my work schedule so that I can attend the conference and the first day of the field trip (the New England Bog Tour). Will that be possible, and if so, is there anything special I would need to do as far as registration or payment goes?

Nepenthes99, hopefully I'll have some more announcements in the next couple of days to help you decide! btw, early-bird registration has been extended yet again to the 21st!
Bmtx, it is totally possible to do just the one New England day. As long as you're registered for the conference, which it sounds like you are or will be.
That can be worked out at the conference if you like as it doesn't require a lot of planning or reservations on our part so we could be more flexible!

The North Carolina Field Trip is still open! But it will be closed soon, so if you were thinking about it, now's your last chance to jump onboard!! See: www.necps.org/icps2012/fieldtripa.htmlThere will be a really cool extension to the trip after North Carolina. It will start with a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, to the Gardens themselves and a nearby conservation project. Then there'll be a stay in Okefenokee Swamp for a couple of days and then onto legendary Apalachicola for all it's CP glory! Please contact marcel@carnivorousplants.org for details on the extension!

The Group B trips are ready! The cost will be $40 per day for just transportation. Meals and accommodations will be the responsibility of the participants. Feel free to attend just one day, two days or all three! It’s completely your choice! We leave from the Conference Center Parking Lot every morning at 9am. On the day after the Conference ends, on Tuesday August 14th, the NECPS will provide a bus-trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts for visits to a couple of old, abandoned Commercial Cranberry Bogs in Brewster and Harwich to see native Drosera Filiformis & Drosera Intermedia in fantastic coastal locations! We’ll be stopping for lunch in between and will also visit some scenic locations like the Cape Cod canal overlook for a bit of New England sightseeing. On Wednesday, August 15th, it’ll be time to board the bus again for a trip up to northern Massachusetts to a spectacular Mountain Roadside Bog filled with Sphagnum and Sarracenia Purpurea and onto another location with a floating Sphagnum mat bog containing beautifully colored Sarracenia Purpurea. We will continue onto the Black Jungle store where there will be a BBQ and Pot-Luck luncheon at their greenhouses! I am attending the conference, but unfortunately I'm unable to stay long enough to also join one of the field trips (flying home Tuesday). I'll be arriving a day early, however. Is it possible someone could point me to the Cape Cod locations?
