Okay I was wondering if anybody would like to donate plant tissue for research. However I must say that to do so I need certain information, including:
Species of plant (can't be a hybrid) Sex of the plant (must be confirmed can't be a maybe) a photo of the plant with a piece of paper with the owners name so i can verify that it is from that person. ideally a photo of the flower to confirm the sex of the plant.
I will pay shipping for the plant. If my research comes out as a success maybe I'll even help determine the sex of anybody's plants for a fee though.
Those that do donate I'll determine the sex of any of the unknown plants you have for free.
I'm pretty sure Nepenthes are genetically fixed, they inherit their sex genetically from their parents.
It would be so nice to start a new political party. Maybe name it, The Tea Party II for Americans, not racist anti-American douches that hate their neighbors? We need to reform our politics, not make them more partisan and dumber.
It hasn't technically been confirmed that there is a sex chromosome in Nepenthes. Also the sex isn't inherited by parents that would only happen if the plant was a clone.
If there is a sex chromosome it is very difficult to find because Nepenthes has around 80 chromosomes or so. I'm actually researching more on identifying the sex through various primers and species across the genus. I feel that the current situation in sex determination is a bit crude.
