They are just defective mutations, amped by inbreeding. Just look at royal families and we find the same kinds of issues/diseases. This is the result of inbreeding and is not displaying ancestral traits.

Not quite a Sarracenia but Geoff Mansell in Australia has had a similar deformation with a Nepenthes!
