Last year my Aldrovanda flowered during summer and I thought i would post a picture. About 20 or so flowers came up the flowers didnt last long and although not very interesting flowers I was happy because I must be doing something right ;D . At the moment its winter in Aus so I cant take any pics of the plants because they always stop forming traps when its to cold not turions just a plant with no traps (is this normal?)

Fabulous. My plants have produced flower buds many times, but they've never developed completely.

Ok, You seem to be doing something rite because mine have not flowered yet and I have had them for almost 12 months now. What form are yours and wered you get them from?. The reason your plants may not be forming traps is traced back to a boron difficiency, try adding some clay balls to the very bottom of the tank and let us know how it all goes.

heres my set up matti this is the jar they are in at the moment because im cleaning out the big jar i usually change the water clean the tank every month the big jar. peat has setteled so when the scum builds up in the small jar im good to just wash the plants and chuck them in. this is the snail pool where i get food for the aldrovanda and this plant has roots everywhere so i use bits of it in the aldrovanda tank. The plant looks terrible cause of frost. they dont know what there in for I also go to the local nursery and steal there pond water that has this layer of plants floating on the top looks really nice. my aldrovanda grows on the windowsill in very shaded conditions. its all just dumb luck but it works.

I'm very encouraged to see your Aldrovanda flowering on the window sill. Great growing locko! I've wanted to try that plant as well as a Heli for a while but hesitated doing so as I'm not a big risk taker. I think I will try Aldrovanda next year thanks in part to seeing yours on the windowsill looking so wonderful. I need to learn a little bit more about these plants. If you don't mind my asking, how does your friend propagate the Aldrovanda he supplies to Triffid Park?

Glider I do hope you get flowers but make sure you watch for them they dont last long.
Thanks pinglover for the kind words I do my best. also if you want to try aldrovanda on the windowsill I would suggest growing an Australian form because I have read that European forms dont do so well on the windowsill but I am thinking of getting some european forms soon. To propogate aldrovanda all you need to do is cut the plant up pretty much it also produces offshoots constantly during summer or when the temperature is right.

Well locko, your best looks pretty darn good to me and evidently your growing conditions are stable in your fishbowl. Thanks for mentioning vegetative reproduction. I was curious about sexual reproduction thinking it might be warm enough where those plants grow for that to occur. Don't know much about them other than that they're an exotic species here where I garden.
