I am trying to grow P. lutea and P. primuliflora again. Last year I tried 1 of each in my big terrarium... aka the terrorarium.
P. lutea died shortly after flowering (around May or June). I suspect it was due to poor lighting and/or poor air circulation. P. primuliflora died in mid-winter (around December or January), and I think it was due to over watering and/or excessive winter warmth.
Today I got 3 more of each plant, and I was excited that all of them arrived in full bloom. Instead of keeping these inside in a big terrarium, I'm going to put them in smaller terrariums that I can move outside on good days (like today was almost 60 deg F and sunny).
Anyway, I just wanted to ask if anyone has tips for growing these species year-round. P. primuliflora was increasing and blooming like crazy for me, then all of the sudden it died.... all of them... at once. Very sad panda. :-(
I saw Brian's message on the Florida CP Soc forum about growing his P. lutea very wet year round. I don't suppose you have pics of that Brian?

Oh, by the way, is it a bad idea to try to take leaf cuttings when the Pinguicula are in mid-flower like this?

what substrat use you?
for the watering is not the same for all the subtropical US
lutea-pumila-caerulea lightly wet
planifolia-ionantha-primuliflora no problem with a wet substrat ,some time immerse in spring
