Hi, I have some B. guehoi seeds, and was wondering if anyone else has grown this species and had any tips on germination. I am planning on treating them as I do B. liniflora. Also,(maybe Brian will answer) I have some seeds labeled as B. 'Goliath' and I was just wondering is his new plant a cultivar or a hybrid? Because doesn't B. 'Goliath' refer to a cultivar? And so I wouldn't be able to have seeds of a cultivar. A cultivar can only be propagated vegetatively. Right? Please help me to clarify this, as I am confused. Thanks, Matt

A cultivar can only be propagated vegetatively. Right? Wrong... sorry. It depends upon the particular cultivar, as acceptable methods of propagation may be specified in the published description.

Even though reproductive methods may be mentioned in the cultivar description, they are not binding, and do not limit how a cultivar can be reproduced. A cultivar is simply a published description and a photographic standard, not a genetic fingerprint, unless, of course the published description includes a genetic fingerprint. Any plant, no matter how derived that precisely meets the published description and photographic standard qualifies to bear the name of that cultivar. See -> ICNCP.

I would use GA3 for germination, especially for the B guehoi. I have great success with it but have had very poor results without.
