Hi Folks: After a lot of hard work our team (Ken Collins and Mike Smith) has finally succeeded in getting into the Pepsi Refresh Grant Competition and you can now vote to "Save Carnivorous Plants from Extinction". To vote go to: www.refresheverything.com/meadowviewcarnivorousplantrestorationYou can vote once a day, every day, for the month of October. We absolutely need you to vote to succeed in this effort and we need you to spread the word and get other folks to vote. Please help us and prevent extinction of the northern most pitcher plant bog in Virginia. Sincerely, Phil Sheridan Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks:
Thanks for voting and please keep up the pressure, vote every day, and try to get more people involved to vote. Our current rank, 309, may be deceptive since we think Pepsi doesn't re rank applications until after several days. Number 309 was our application number, apparently not our actual rank.
In any case, thank you for your support to preserve the northern most pitcher plant bog in Virginia.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hey Friends, The ICPS fully supports Meadowview's fantastic conservational efforts and encourage all who haven't already, to take a few seconds to vote! By doing our part, we can help Phil reach his goal. A big THANKS goes out to all involved in making this happen! Happy Growing, Brian Barnes, ICPS Director of Conservation

Hi Folks:
We're still ranking in the 120 range. Please continue to vote, and spread the word to friends and other plant societies. The people that are most likely to vote, and continue to vote, will be those involved in horticulture or natural resource conservation.
Let's win!
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan Meadowview

Hi Folks: Please keep up the pressure and continue to vote daily on the Pepsi grant to preserve the northern most pitcher plant population in Virginia. We're holding in our rank but need more people to vote to win. Please continue to spread the word and ask people to vote. You can vote by text message, your Facebook account, or through the Pepsi registration. For additional details see our web site at www.pitcherplant.org. Some additional good news is that Dr. Ernest Wilson just purchased the Gatewood tract, immediately upstream from the bog. Dr. Wilson will be donating a conservation easement to Meadowview on the property which will allow us to restore the headwater seep. You can see Dr. Wilson with the native pitcher plants in bloom on our main page. Sincerely, Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi, this morning when I voted Meadowview's rank was in the 130s, but now it's 539? Surely this is some glitch, right?

I came on here to say the same thing. We've been around 130th for a week or more and now in less than a day we drop to 539th - that's just not possible - surely A gradual drop would be disappointing but believable, but to suddenly drop 400 places in the space of a couple of hours - Nah, something has gone on!!

There are all sorts of possible reasons... A distinctly probable one is the fact that the vote is open only to US residents.
It would be simple to cull those votes originating from IP addresses outside the US.
