Sarracenia in the Florida panhandle are getting a late start this year. Freezing weather in January and February was in the news and no doubt the reason for the delayed flowering. Sarracenia flava has been blooming only for the last week or so. The usual time is early March.

Hey Randy, It's good to see the Sarrs waking up! Even S. minor down my way is very slow, with flower spikes just starting to break through the crowns. I think we will see a very prolific flowering in the Panhandle this year, due to the unseasonably cold temps we had in winter... Happy Growing, Brian.

Same here, Randy and Brian. We had a very cool and wet winter, and I figure that has caused the delay in blooming.

Hello Brian and Jim. Made a quick trip to a nearby bog after work today (4/15/10). S leucophylla are blooming nicely. A few flavas are still flowering. And quite surprising quite a few of the S. rosea are still with petals.

Stunning images.
Is it wet over there; we haven't had ran for several months in Columbia County.
Afraid it might be one of those really dry El Nino Spring and Summers.
