Rain, rain, and more rain predicted. Will the ground hog see his shadow this year? The flytraps are still in a holding pattern, just waiting for the warm days of spring Lots of new center growth ready to take off when they get the signal ;D

If you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes ;D [/ul] The rain let up for a bit and the sun came out. You never know what to expect this time of year. The weather service calls this "unstable conditions". My flytraps think it's just great

My Venus flytraps are telling me it's Spring Sunrise and sunset are 11 hours and 45 minutes apart. The weather has been clear and sunny, though a bit chilly at night; down to the low 40's. Several of the traps are pushing up flower stalks. Dionea flowers are very delicate and pretty. I think I'll let them flower and cross pollinate. Hopefully they will produce some seeds ;D

Spring weather is definitely here. The flytraps have been enjoying several days of warm sunshine. I'm running out of rain water and I'll have to buy some distilled water soon. The temps have been in the low 70s and the trays evaporate quickly. Sunrise and sunset times overlap by a few minutes now, so the traps are getting lots of daylight. The new, bare root plants are starting to put on strong new growth [/ul] The rest of the trays are showing a growth surge too. [/ul] They should be very showy this summer ;D

It's late April and true to the old saying about April showers bringing May flowers, many of my flytraps are ready to bloom. The weather has been great for the traps and, after the light rain yesterday, they are enjoying a beautiful sunny morning. [/ul] In March I tried to sell some of my Venus flytraps because during the warm weather the pots suck up about a gallon of water a day. I don't really want to part with any of my collection, but buying water for them is going to get expensive this summer. [/ul] After a winter season outdoors in the SF Bay area, my VFTs are doing very well and I would recommend to anyone in this region to let your flytraps enjoy the weather ;D
