I found this info somewhere, but now I can find . Anyway does D. filiformis ssp. filiformis grow well in Long fiber Sphagnum moss? I recently received one in the mail and I want to plant it in my bog, but the only soil in it is LFS. The plant came in a mix of peat and perlite so I have no clue. Any advice is welcome. Thanks, Williamg

Thanks, Williamg Hey William, In the NJ Pine Barrens, they're usually found in drier sandy places, and often in full direct sun. They're the first to go dormant too of all the other Dros, generally by now, or mid August. I think pure LFS might be too wet for them. - Rich

I've grown D. filiformis ssp filiformis in pure Long-fibered sphagnum with plenty of success. Just make sure the water level is high enough (ie in a 4 inch pot, .5 inches-1 inches should be in the tray most of the time).
However, if you're trying to mimic how they grow in nature (which is generally what you should try to do), follow Rich's advice. They grow well in the Barrens for a reason!

I have some in a bog in my garden. They grow in normal peat/sand soil, but through an upper surface of Sphagnum.

Replanted it in the peat/sand mix and it is doing fine. Plenty of dew and helpless moths stuck to it

On the off chance it might help- I have my Drosera filiformis ssp. tracyi growing in living sphagnum, and it is growing phenomenally.
