When its first leaves come out, keep it wet. While your seedling grow higher than half then drier the media. (Dont't let it dry out. It still needs water in this stage. It does not need to stand in the water, but you need to check it every day and water it while it withered (don't let it wither, it will hurt its root.). if you let it stand in water you may let it rot. Anyway, it is very crtical in this period)

How wet? Like Venus flytrap wet? I have been keeping it a little less moist than I keep my VFTs. I will take a picture tomorrow if I remember to. I have it inside of a terrarium where I try to keep the humidity a little higher. I do not have it in a saucer but I have been misting it with water lightly each day, and giving it a little heavier of a misting every few days. I have it growing under T5 florescents. I do live in a mediteranian style climate and planned to move it outside when well formed leaves appeared (say a couple inches in length).

Soil is 1/3 sand, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1/3 perlite I think. No peat moss.

I was just about to create a new post when I saw this one. I have a seedling that I got a couple of months ago that is maybe 5-6" at most and also has a flower bud on it. I was shocked when I saw it. I'm growing it in less-than-ideal light levels - the leaves are further apart than they should be, but it's the most I can give it right now. I will probably cut the buds off until it gets larger, but it's encouraging to see that mine isn't the only freak.

Drosophyllum like bright light. it endure direct sun here in hot Summer - the environment temperature around 38C, so the direct sun temperature should higher than this. My plants moved to house became weak just in two days during Typhoon. Provide most sun as you can it will not hurt your Drosophyllum but good for them.
Two seeds of six petal flower from this plant sprout just now. I will update it later.

2011/12/24 I do not provide any special treatment for this seedling. I put it in the old pot where the old plant already died. Since the environment is stable and good for them. So it is easy for me, I don't need to care medium and water. But one thing bother me, I must remove weed regularly. Temperature here is around 14 ~ 18C now.

The first one looks weak during rainy days. It will die definitely. I will resow seeds from the other 8 (I used 2) seeds. 2012/Jan/11 2012/Jan/11 Looks good

Hi wwang,
Should we reduce watering once the seedling starts to put out its third leaf? Thanks!

Is that moss on your soil or just some kind of green mold?
