Hi
I would be grateful of any advice on establishing my avatar.
I have entered a normally viable URL code during a modification of my profile but it does not become established once I select "Modify post".

This is what I did. I right clicked my image and saved it to my desktop. I then uploaded it to a photo site. I think the photo site was PhotoBucket or something similar. From there I added the url to my profile here. I believe I clicked modify profile and that was it.
You're probably considerably more computer literate than me however sometimes when I have issues uploading, I clear my cache, restart the computer, and it normally works. Anything more than that and I generally need help problem solving.

Thanks for your reply pinglover. Yes, that's what I have done and do with other forums effectively but it doesn't seem to happen for me here. Seems a shame, but maybe I'll just go without an avatar....

Thank you for your patience. I promise we'll figure this out. What is the size of your avatar please?
There is a possibility we are having temporary burps and hiccups and you have fallen victim to our software. If this is true, please be patient with us while we try to get to the bottom of it. If you want an avatar, you should have one!

Thanks. My avatar is 69 X 100.
Have just posted some images in the Sarracenia section which uploaded fine from the same source that contains the image I want to use as an avatar.
But really, if I can establish an avatar, great - if I can't, no sweat....

That should be an acceptable size??? I'll get somebody who might be able to take it from here.

We will need the avatar URL to test what is happening.

Earl, just as an experiment I took the URL from your CPUK avatar and plugged it into your profile. As Aidan said, if you give us the URL of the avatar that you wish to use, we can troubleshoot the problem. One hint: if you are using a URL to a location that does not allow remote linking (for example, photos stored on CPUK), your avatar (or photo links) will not show.

Thanks for the reply Bob.
My old favourite avatar will do just fine - thanks for the installation!

Earl, if you want to change your avatar, simply replace the avatar URL in your profile. It should work. If for some reason it doesn't work, let me know.
