The end of this year will mark the end of terms of office for three ICPS board members: Jan Schlauer, John Brittnacher, and Cindy Slezak. These board members have not yet announced if they will be seeking a new term. In any event, the remaining board members extend their thanks to these officers for the work they have done for the ICPS board.
If you are interested in helping lead the ICPS, this is a great opportunity for you to work with this international nonprofit organization. To run for a board position, please email a 250 word election statement to Barry Rice (barry (at) carnivorousplants.org). Your election statements must be received by 1 August, 2008. In your statement, you may wish to note your experience, why you want to run for office, and what you wish to accomplish. Your statements will be printed in the September issue of CPN.
The ICPS is a growing, active US IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation registered in California, USA. Board members are legally officers of the corporation. In order to participate as a board member, email access is essential. Furthermore, board members are expected to work hard! So while we welcome and encourage your interest as a board member, remember that it is more than a vanity post! In particular, the ICPS board needs members with skills or interests in business, financial management, and marketing. Yes, board members should love carnivorous plants, but they are part of the governing and management aspects of the ICPS. The board works with accountants, the USA’s Internal Revenue Service and state of California, banks, printers, and other real-life business entities. If you are interested in working hard with a dedicated volunteer staff in a unique nonprofit organization, the ICPS needs your help!
