My name is Mark and I live in Holden Beach NC. I'm about 10 miles from the famous Green swamp.
I've been a moderator of Terraforums for about 5 years, I think. The people there are some of the best people I've ever met.
I used to really enjoy growing cp's but I've found I much rather spend my time looking for and photographing cp's in the wild. It's much more rewarding to find a new field full of pitcher plants and vft's than watching them grow in pots.
I also am very into conserving cp's and their habitats. Living in a prime cp area, I see sites being lost almost every day. I want to save all of them but with the rate of development in this area, I can't even save one percent of them. I can only do what I can. . I have been the head of conservation of NASC for about two years.
I'm also into reptiles. I love finding snakes. I have some very good pics of my finds. I don't know if there is an interest in my snake pics here, but if there is, I'll post some of them.
I know most of you don't know me by my name. Most of you only hear about me once a year. You guys can't hide, I still have the hate mail you sent me. lol

Ozzy,
Once upon a time I lived in North Carolina (in a place called Mathews Landing near Hubert and Swansboro). I miss it - prime CP country with some gators, bear and bob cats thrown in to add a little spice. People were tremendously nice and the weather usually was too. I try to get back down that way every few years but I am over-do for a visit. If I get a chance to head down there I will try to make some time to swing by Holden Beach.
Cheers Pete

Once upon a time I lived in Ohio. There are some great kettle bogs there. I visited a few of them while I was living there, but I never got the chance to see the famous Cranberry Island bog. The weather was too cold and I missed the pine savannas so I had to come back home.
I love showing off the local cp sites. Anytime that you're in the area let me know. I can show you 20 plus species of cp's, depending upon the time of year.

When I hear Green Swamp, I think of central Florida, where we have "the" Green Swamp. Stretches from Orlando to Tampa and extends south. That's where the Hillsborough River comes from. We have a few S. minor near by. I am still searching. I grew up in Fayetteville and went to school in Chapel Hill, but didn't fall in love with CPs until 3 years ago quite by accident. Best wishes.

Tanja, I'm originally from Bladenboro about 35 miles from Fayetteville.
I know Florida has a Green Swamp, but our Green Swamp has VFT's.

Our Green Swamp only has S. minor. I can't believe you know our Green Swamp. Next time I am in NC, I will need to check out your Green Swamp. I certainly need to make the pilgrimage to see VFT in the wild.

I have "Green Swamp" in my google alerts, so anytime it's the words green and swamp are in a news article I get an email. I get emails about your green swamp all the time.
Let me know when you're in the area and I can show you some good sites.
