Anyone have some good suggestions on how to deal with a reoccurring infestation of pill bugs and sow bugs?

Bob, Thanks for the info; they happen to infest a pot of delicate seedlings, (that were doing fine until recently) and one of the articles does mention that they will attack small seedling roots and plant tissue. I might try the old drowning method before using these chemicals, maybe repotting all those seedlings into fresh new sphagnum might also be in order.

I doubt drowning will work. They can breath water. At least Sow bogs can. The only stuff I found which will kill them off is total soil insect killer from Bayer (one of the few poisons that actually kill sow bugs). It comes in a concentrated soapy solution, but I think you can apply it by watering it down and dipping the pot into the stuff until the mixture is at soil level. This way the poison will be throughout the soil, but the soap will not be on the rosettes.

Dave, you are quite correct, after nearly 48 hours of being submerged in distilled water, those critters were still crawling all over and through the rootball of some dozen or so Nepenthes seedlings. I was getting worried that I might drown the seedlings instead of those crustaceans! It was easier to remove the seedlings than to remove the small sow bugs and pill bugs (hundreds of them!). It took several hours with a stainless steel surgical tweezer and a 4X jeweler's loupe to surgically remove the tangled roots from each other and the detritus mix, also the old leaves and stuff from the small stems, where they seem to hide. I rinsed them off in warm water, and repotted them in fresh NZ sphagnum, just like the bare rooted seedlings we get from the TC places. Ahh, Spring cleaning for a CP nut!

I just inherited a rather large number of carnivorous plants from my older sister. This morning I noticed small white bugs in all of the younger plants and seedlings. What are they and how should I get rid of them?

The one thing that you may be certain of is that they are not pill bugs. Any chance of a photo?
