How to use thumbnails:
(I am assuming if you are reading this you already know how to upload your photos to a hosting site and you also already know how to resize them as well. If not please read the posts located here: icps.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=photos&action=display&thread=1176433846)
Thumbnails are a way to post small versions of pictures that a reader can click on to see a larger version. They are helpful in 2 ways:
1. They allow you to post smaller pictures in your posts, which will help pages load faster.
2. They allow you to link to bigger pictures than the forum allows. (750x750 is the max size for the forum, but if you use a thumbnail the reader can click on it to see a much larger picture)
To post a thumbnail follow these simple instructions:
1. Upload a small picture to a hosting site.
2. Upload a larger version of the same picture to a hosting site.
3. In your post type the following:
[ url=http://www.yourhostingsite.com/BIGPIC.jpg][ img]http://www.yourhostingsite.com/SMALLPIC.jpg[/img]
(NOTE: Do not put a space between the first [ and url or the first [ and img.)
There is an example of a thumbnail below, click the picture to see a larger version.
Helpful tip:
If you are using photo bucket as your hosting site (other may do this as well) select the picture you want to use. Then click the “generate HTML and IMG code” button. Choose the box of code labeled “IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards” and just copy and paste the code contained within. Instant thumbnails!
As always if you have anything to contribute to this post please feel free to do so.
