Heres a couple of P. pumila pics I took yesterday when I went to Big Pine. Its just about the end of flowering season for these pings but I still managed to find a few. Heres a close up of one of the larger plants. I've never really noticed too much captured prey, only the occassional ant or gnat. Meanwhile at the other site, where P. pumila were once even more abundant, it seems they have completed their life cycle. Earlier in the year there were hundreds of flowering plants, this time around I could only find 2 or 3. Just the annual nature of this species.

I don't know if you were aware of this but there is a photo contest here for Pinguicula. Your photos are nice and you might want to add one to that board.

Sure did.
I had a tough time deciding which one to add though. I was pressed for time this visit so I didn't really have a lot of time to photograph the plants/habitat.
Maybe if I end up visting Big Pine again before the end of this month I'll be able to come up with something a little better. ;D

I particularly liked the third photo you posted but they were all very nice.

How did you know about this site? I've taken several people down there to see these. We must've met before. If not...we should.

Hey Manny, Long story short, I found a GPS location via google but there were no butterworts. Still I managed to luck out and find another area loaded with them. BTW, I beleive I still owe you that S. rubra jonesii!

These plants are really spectacular. I just saw P. pumila in flower in South Carolina, but they didn't have the great color of your plants. I'll have to try to look for them the next time I'm in the Keys!

JRF...I'm glad you found them. I'm not worried about the jonesii. I'd rather meet you. there aren't that many of us down here.
Barry...let me know next time you're down. We'll check out some sites.
