According to Steve Millar Sarracenia seedlings can be grown under 24 hour lighting and the soil warmed to 81F constantly for two years. I have tried this method and gotten similar results as yours. A couple plants even flowered during their second year. I'm eager to try Steve Millar's method combined with fertilization. Here are some of my plants at about 15 months. All seed was from the ICPS seedbank S. flava S. alata S. leucophylla 'Hurricane Creek White' x ?  S. rubra subsp. alabamensis S. rubra subsp. jonesii Here they are at about 26-27 months. Note the flower. I think that's the S. rubra subsp. alabamensis   flower had been stuck between the plant and flower pot wall |

Very nice! Both of you have great looking seedlings that I would love to have specimens of if you have too many ;D. Not a # year 2 flowering is probably a record or at least tied for one. I for some reason can't talk myself into leaving lights on 24 hrs. If on the rare case a short caused a fire I would rather be awake than asleep. The below may flower this year (year 3) and were a product of very diluted orchid fertilizer soil treatments under the same light regime for ~18 months + an outside growing season so approximately 2 years. When planted outside following the artificial light and fertilizer treatments plants take off. Complex cross with Sarracenia purpurea, Sarracenia oreophila, Sarracenia x areolata, Sarracenia rubra. Neat how the clones are so different.  |

I'd love to be able to grow Sarracenia from seed... are there any that are easier than others/ more vigorous?

They are all much the same and without forcing the plants as illustrated here, seed to flowering size plant typically takes 5 - 7 years. Vigour is not something that may be determined by looking at a seed.  |

In which case, where could I buy Sarracenia rubra subsp. wherryi seeds? Is the seed bank only for members of the ICPS?

very very cool seein seedlings grow that fast!!! I am going to order some seeds for my new bog I'll be building. Also guying rhizomes but figuredthe seedlings will be itty bitty for a while and I can possibly pot and gift them down the road.

Bob, not sure if I can afford it, plus there is the added difficulty of living in the uk.
I may have found some Sarracenia rubra subsp. jonesii seeds anyway, but thanks.

Oops your right. My mistake. This should be correct:
S. [x formosa x (psittacina x minor 'Okee Giant')]
and the top plant on this thread should be
S. 'Hurricane Creek White' x 'Adrian Slack'. That's what I get for being in a hurry.
