Hi Folks:
We are finalizing plans for the Stewart McPherson lecture series. Our plans are for this event to start in the Washington, D.C. area around April 16, 2010 and end at the Atlanta Botanic Garden a week or so later.
We are also looking at booking the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville on April 25. Can you please respond if you are interested in attending the Asheville or Atlanta talks? If I fail to get enough interest in Atlanta or Asheville talks I am not going to invest the time, money, and resources on those venues.
Stewart is going to present a lecture on his worldwide travels studying carnivorous plants and his books will be available for sale at the talks. All the money from book sales will go to the purchase of land for pitcher plant conservation in Virginia.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks:
So far the response has been one person interested in an Asheville talk and two for Atlanta, not adequate numbers to host a talk in those towns. Please let me know if you are interested so we can make a final decision.
If we don't get enough interest for Stewart's talks in Atlanta or Asheville you are certainly invited to attend the Virginia lectures.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan Director Meadowview

Hi NoPlay:
We'll definitely be holding Stewart's talk in a nice venue in the Fredericksburg area, about 1.5 hours south of D.C. I'll let you know when we finalize plans.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan Meadowview

Hi Folks:
I have some updates on the Stewart McPherson lecture series. Stewart has booked his flight and will be flying in on 4/29 and leaving on 5/5/10. To keep matters simple we are going to host one lecture at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We are still deciding on a time but our choices were 4:00 P.M., 5 or 6. I'm leaning towards the 4:00 P.M. time slot to best accommodate everyone.
While I very much wanted to host lectures in Atlanta and Asheville the amount of time Stewart had and short lead time simply did not permit a high quality event in those venues. I hope we can do those cities in the future.
University of Mary Washington is located in old town Fredericksburg and is conveniently located near an Amtrak rail station. There are many sites to see, good food, and nice accommodations in near-by hotels and/or bed and breakfasts.
I will keep you posted as we fine tune the details. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks:
We're getting ready for Stewart's visit and will have all his books for sale along with Meadowview t-shirts and coffee mugs. A major theme of this talk is preserving pitcher plant habitat and I will briefly talk about our efforts to preserve the northern most pitcher plant bog in Virginia, right above Meadowview.
If anyone is planning on attending could you please send me an e-mail at meadowview@pitcherplant.org? I'm trying to get an idea of what our attendance will be.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan Meadowview

Hi Folks: We're looking forward to Stewart McPherson's talk and getting a lot of interest in attending. We now have all of Stewart's books in stock and they will be available at the lecture. Don Schnell called the other day and he is coming to see the talk too. I've had several requests for camping at Meadowview, which we've approved. If you want to attend the lecture, and the burden of a motel room is just too much, please contact me to request primitive camping at Meadowview. You can go to our web site, www.pitcherplant.org, and click on "Views of the Research Station" to get some idea of the layout. Look forward to seeing you at the lecture! Sincerely, Phil Sheridan Director Meadowview Biological Research Station
