Right, but how do we know the garden center plants are not Slack's clones? This is what I'm not clear on...

Bonjour
in my opinion (but hey it's only mine) no matter the producer and the clone, what counts are the morphological characters (in their outlines and tiny details not different) are they close or not the hybrid made by SLACK?

Realize this is an old post by I though I can add to this intersting discussion. Despite the green leaves of your particular ping pigking, and hopefully you get to read my post, the flower of your ping looks quite similar to a plant I have (actually two now). I wonder if anyone ever heard about Pinguicula 'Pirouette'? This particular plant’s parentage is P. agnata × (moranensis × ehlersiae) and according to Barry Rice, this is a very extremely vigorous plant. www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq5467.htmlIn discussions, I've been told by others that this particular species is supposedly a preferred plant for commercial sellers nurseries since it is hardy and is a good plant for beginners. As you can see the pic below, the flower of P. 'Pirouette' looks almost like the fame 'Sethos' and 'Wesser', but still different. The leaves of P. ‘Pirouette’ basically look like 'Sethos' and 'Wesser', acquire a nice reddish pink ting under bright light but the difference is the wavy ruffled leave margins, hence why they named this particular hybrid 'Pirouette'. www.carnivorousplants.org/cpdb/CPdbDetail.php?cp_id=119032Pics are from last year and it flowered twice. The ruffled margins of the leaves. Last pic is when the heart split into twoplants last november. Well, these are my two cents and sincerely hope this may help, hope you like my pics. Interesting discussion, I find it fun trying to identify a plant and look foward to your responses. Cheers! ;D
